First, there is Odyssée pour violoncelle et chœur imaginaire, a show created in 2012. Sonia Wieder-Atherton confronts her cello with a soundtrack in order to tell thirteen adventures in which traditional songs of the world echo Bach, Prokofiev or Schuman. Then there are the Odyssées; an impulse towards others, their stories, their songs, their dreams; towards their own odyssey. Everywhere she plays, Sonia Wieder-Atherton recreates a part of her show with the voices of those she meets. From these exchanges are born many materials that enrich the show by integrating the soundtrack. For the Festival d'Aix, the Odyssée takes with it 160 young singers from the chorus of the schools of the Aix-Marseille Academy. During workshops held throughout the year in their establishments and regular sessions with Sonia Wieder-Atherton, they immersed themselves in the adventures of the Odyssée, mixing their multiple voices with the wind, the waves and the voice of the cello.
