About

La forza del destino is the most fantastic, breathtaking and picturesque drama ever produced by the operatic world. The tone is set right from start with the legendary overture: plagued by a relentless curse, the protagonists are driven across Spain and Italy from battlefield to remote hermitage, and will know no rest until the implacable hand of destiny has dealt its final blow. With its concentration of powerful and contrasting situations, the work has a distinctly baroque and experimental quality to it: more real than life itself, if the fervent and passionate vocality of the characters is anything to go by. From the most complex soprano part played by Anna Pirozzi to the most fascinating male duets (Brian Jagde and Ariun Ganbaatar), the casting requires the maximum from the three main roles, without overlooking the sublime or grotesque counterpoint of three well-defined secondary roles. With Daniele Rustioni at the helm, conducting the Choir and Orchestra of the Opéra de Lyon, this exceptional event will bring together the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and the Chorégies d’Orange.
