This concert, which unites opera with symphony, gives a magnificent idea of Kaija Saariaho’s contribution to the field of chamber music, by drawing on different eras of her career and illustrating it through diverse music ensembles: i.e., a quartet, a quartet with electronics, a duo for flute and kantele (a typical instrument of Finnish tradition), and a small ensemble with a baritone. All of the evening’s artists are well-versed in the composer’s work, which is closer than ever to the slightest shift in the human soul and to the pulse of nature.
