ERNEST CHAUSSON — Poème de l'amour et de la mer, op. 19
In just a few years, Benjamin Bernheim has established himself as the fieriest and most refined French tenor of his generation: the dream interpreter of the romantic soul’s torments and effusions. For his Festival debut, he sings his very first Dichterliebe and continues his exploration of the Poème de l'amour et de la mer. Some of Mahler’s lieder, which form an explicit connection with Resurrection, complete these two major variations on the theme of impossible love.
