Designed through a collaborative approach involving all of the Festival’s teams (via awareness-raising seminars, Climate Fresk workshops, and a one-day workshop of group reflection), the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence 2024–2027 action plan for green transition is being published to help reduce the Festival’s environmental impact.

After publishing a guide on the eco-design of opera sets in 2018, incorporating Non-Profit Social Responsibility into the Festival statutes in 2020, and earning double AFNOR certification for diversity and for gender equality in the workplace in 2021, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence is publishing its green-transition action plan, with more than 70 actions to be carried out over a four-year period. This major action plan, which is the result of a year of collective work, will intervene in nine areas: general strategy, artistic creation, resources, energy and buildings, the transport of artists, waste management and reduction, food, the mobility of Festival teams, the transport and mobility of audiences, and sustainable purchasing and communication. Each section of the action plan will be divided into three axes — analysis and reflection, the raising of awareness among stakeholders, and the implementation of targeted actions — and all Festival teams will be involved in the deployment of the actions, the monitoring of the plan’s objectives, and the successful completion of the actions.
