Instrumental Residency 2025 : discover this summer’s artists in residency!

This summer, the Académie will host two up-and-coming string quartets who, under the mentorship of the Diotima quartet and composer Unsuk Chin, will hone their mastery of a wide variety of contemporary and classic repertory. Selected following a competitive international recruitment process, these 8 musicians will present two recitals under the auspices of Aix en juin, as well as a final concert during the opening week of the July Festival. This final concert will feature two world premieres, commissioned by the Festival d’Aix for this occasion, as well as Unsuk Chin’s own ParaMetaString (1996). 

Continuing in the Académie’s legacy of intergenerational mentorship and exchange, this residency offers its artists and audiences alike an opportunity to witness the cutting edge of this seminal combination of instruments, as a new generation of composers and interpreters convene in Aix to add a fresh chapter to the form’s distinguished history.
