The baritone Christian Gerhaher, who plays the title role in Wozzeck, is also one of the finest Lieder singers in the world. For his first time at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, he will be performing an exceptional array of Lieder by Schubert and Berg, interspersed with mélodies by Fauré, including the cycle La Bonne Chanson based on poetry by Paul Verlaine.
