The awards season is in full swing, and we are delighted to announce that several artists who will be performing this summer in Aix-en-Provence are among the 2024 award winners. We extend our warmest congratulations to them all.
Ermonela Jaho has received Oper! magazine’s Best Singer award. Her Butterfly has already captivated audiences at top performance venues from New York to Paris, London, and Orange. We are excited to welcome her this summer for her Festival d’Aix debut.
Oper! has honoured Huw Montague Rendall as well, with its Best Newcomer award. The singer will be taking on the role of Pelléas in the revival of the highly acclaimed 2016 production, and will also be giving a recital with Lea Desandre and Thomas Dunford.
Finally, the American soprano Julia Bullock has won her first Grammy Award, in the Best Classical Solo Vocal category, for her recording of Walking in the Dark with London’s Philharmonia Orchestra. You will be able to hear her on stage at the Grand Théâtre de Provence, where she will be playing Mélisande, a role debut that we look forward to discovering.
