Faces of the Virgin in the Western sacred music
The Voices of Silvacane
For the 5th consecutive year, The Voices of Silvacane mark one of highlights of AIX EN JUIN and make resound polyphonic magnificences under inspiring arches of the Cistercian abbey of Silvacane in La Roque d'Anthéron. A real celebration of vocal art through centuries and continents, in the course of three exceptional concerts!

As a major religious figure in Western culture, the Virgin Mary is the subject of many musical celebrations. The Jeune choeur de la Maîtrise des Bouches-du-Rhône, now composed of fourteen singers from sixteen to twenty-two years old and directed by Samuel Coquard, interprets different versions of the sacred songs dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, including the unmissable Ave Maria and Salve Regina. Composed by Jean Alain, Jean-Sébastien Bach, André Caplet, Maurice Duruflé, Gabriel Fauré, Miklós Kocsár, Simone Plé, Francis Poulenc and Éric Tanguy, these works lead us on a temporal journey from the Renaissance to the present.
