"AU GRAND AIR" SESSION

Led by Violaine Fournier, this session offers young artists from diverse musical backgrounds (classical music, jazz, traditional Mediterranean music, etc.) an experience in the field of contextual music creation, i.e. in the elaboration of sensitive forms, inspired by a given context and in interaction with a surrounding environment. With a particular sensitivity to Mediterranean heritages, Violaine Fournier, singer, dramaturge and author, shares her expertise in the creation of live performances that aim to raise awareness of diverse audiences for music, particularly outside of performance halls, and with a concern for decompartmentalising performance spaces and creative forms. This is a unique opportunity to improve one's creativity in order to explore and enhance an environment, to develop greater interaction with a wide range of audiences, and to dare to create new creative forms and new scenes beyond the usual concert venues.

This session is a real professional setting which, after days of mentoring with Violaine Fournier, will lead to the creation and implementation of a musical walking path led by the 5 artists for audiences. This musical journey will take place outdoors, as part of the "Au Grand Air" programme, developed by the Passerelles services of the Festival d'Aix.

"Au Grand Air" is an artistic outreach programme of the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, offered in partnership with the Aix-en-Provence tourist office.

It offers an original discovery of the Bibémus quarries. Located in the heart of the Grand Site Sainte-Victoire, these ancient quarries, covering an area of 7 hectares, were used for the construction of monuments in Aix from antiquity to the 18th century. Paul Cézanne was inspired by the quarries and painted some of his work there between 1895 and 1904. Around Cezanne's cottage, the path set up in the shade of tall pines allows you to discover this large plateau where mineral and vegetation complement each other.
