Dear festival-goers,

As we explained to you on Wednesday, 15 April 2020, the COVID-19 global health crisis and the recent declarations by the president of France have forced the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence to cancel all public performances of its 2020 edition.

Every year, the Festival represents, for both you the audience and for those of us who help bring it to life, a longstanding date with music, the stage, artists, and summer nights in Aix. Your enthusiastic reception for the 2020 edition—indeed, a great many of you booked your tickets from the moment sales opened—promised to produce an especially rich experience; and we, like you, are extremely disappointed we must forego that experience this year.

These cancelations, occurring only two months before the Festival was scheduled to open, and only after a large portion of the artistic expenses had already been incurred, have put our entire organisational structure at risk, including the artists, the technical teams, our short-term contracted workers, and our entire permanent staff.

Therefore, for those of you who wish to support the future of the Festival, we take this opportunity to suggest that you donate a portion or the totality of your 2020 tickets’ purchase price to the Support Fund we have created to help the Festival make it through this crisis.
Of course, you may still opt to have the entire purchase price of your tickets refunded.
If you choose to support us at this time, your donation, which will be deposited to the Festival Endowment Fund, will be eligible for an income tax reduction of 66% of the amount of the contribution. This tax benefit is available for residents of France only. If you are a European, British or American resident and wish to transform your tickets into a gift benefiting from the tax deduction of you country of residence, you can ask for a reimbursement and then make a donation to our partner organizations of International Friends, IFILAF UK (Charity Nº 1147535) and IFILAF US (501c3 status), or through Transnational Giving Europe. By clicking on the link at the bottom of this page, you will find the form you may use to apprise us of your choice, as well as information on which documents you must include with your request.

Please send us your requests before 1 June 2020 (ideally), or by August 18 2020 at the latest (as stipulated in our General Terms and Conditions). Past this date, any amounts for which we have received no requests for donation or refund will remain the property of the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.

We will respond to you as quickly as possible, and will refund your order(s) (excluding any fees) within 10 weeks from the time we receive your request. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding, especially considering our altered working conditions at this time.
