Dear festivalgoers,

More than 75,000 of you joined us to celebrate the 75th edition of the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, which ended on Monday 24 July. True to its history – and now more than ever in its 75th year – the Festival has produced a bold programme this year, renewing its repertoire and approach to established works, supporting contemporary creation, broadening the scope of opera by bringing it into dialogue with other arts and musical practices – with the constant concern that these projects be served by the greatest performers.

This rich edition, which presented nine opera titles – including two world premieres and three operas in concert version – and fifteen concerts met with record attendance, particularly from our young audience. And as ever, large numbers of you attended all the free events at Aix en juin, which included celebrations to mark the 15th anniversary of the Passerelles educational and socio-artistic service, and the 25th anniversary of the Académie du Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, as well as numerous meetings and debates with artists and professionals during ‘Midis’, ‘Tête-à-tête’ and Preludes.

We would like to extend our warmest thanks to all of you, our audiences, patrons and partners, for your commitment to us and for your enthusiasm, without which we would not be able to fully realise the essence of a Festival open to all audiences, and to remind you of the extent to which opera today is at the crossroads of the most vital issues facing the city.

We hope you all have a wonderful summer in the company of our #DIGITALSTAGE, where you can (re)watch the recordings of our productions and (re)listen to the Preludes to the productions and the meetings and debates with the artists.

We look forward to seeing you in the autumn to find out more about the preparations for our 76th Festival, which will take place from 3 to 25 July 2024!
