Share
Reprisals of new productions from the 2019 Festival d’Aix will grace the greatest opera stages throughout the world beginning early 2020.
From January to June, opera stages in Adelaide (Australia), Vienna, Lyon, Amsterdam, Lisbon and Luxembourg will host a number of the Festival’s 2019 productions: Mozart’s Requiem in the new production directed by Romeo Castelluci; Puccini’s Tosca, directed by Christophe Honoré; Kurt Weill’s Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, directed by Ivo van Hove; and Adam Maor’s The Sleeping Thousand—which made its world premiere at the Festival—directed by Yonatan Levy.
Not to be outdone, opera productions from previous editions—Ariadne auf Naxos, directed by Katie Mitchell; Ariodante, directed by Richard Jones; The Rake’s Progress, directed by Simon McBurney; and Dido and Æneas, directed by Vincent Huguet—will be presented throughout the first half of the year in Helsinki, Copenhagen and Valencia, and at the Bolshoi Theatre and the Stanislavsky Theatre in Moscow.
Requiem will also be reprised in 2022 in New York and Brussels.
