Every year, in its commitment to making music and opera accessible to as many people as possible, the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée (OJM) helps young artists at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence to develop their skills in artistic outreach and awareness-raising with various audiences.

Aged 20 to 26, these young professional musicians from Europe and the Mediterranean basin will be training this year from 4 to 7 December, under the continued mentorship of Mark Withers.

Mark Withers, a clarinettist, has many years of experience as a facilitator and coordinator of audience outreach projects, especially alongside the London Symphony Orchestra, but also within a large number of educational institutions committed to making music accessible to all. For over a decade, he has trained a vast number of talented artists from the OJM in audience outreach and awareness-raising.

This unique programme for professional integration aims to support these young artists in their desire to share and pass on their practice to as many people as possible, through the fostering of their creative development. Concretely, it takes the form of participatory outreach activities, carried out in partnership with Passerelles, the Festival's department for cultural initiatives.
