FLIGHT OF THE SŌRA

Drawing on the experience gained during their time at the Festival, the HSBC Laureates of the Académie du Festival d'Aix are performing recitals and concerts throughout the year in France and abroad. See the Trio Sōra on 6 March at the Opéra de Lille.
This is the second concert by the HSBC Laureates as part of the "Concerts du Mercredi" (Wednesday Concerts) at the Opéra de Lille on 6 March this year. The musicians of the Trio Sōra – Magdalēna Geka (violin), Angèle Legasa (cello) and Pauline Chenais (piano) – will be filling the venue with the sound of their instruments. Their strings and piano will honour a masterpiece by Clara Schumann and revisit two trios by Haydn and Shostakovich, composers separated by nearly two centuries.
This musical programme named L’Envol des Sōra (Flight of the Sōra) is a reference to their name, borrowed from the Amerindian word "sōra" meaning "bird which sings as it takes flight". A wise choice given the distinctions earned by the trio, named HSBC Laureate 2017 of the Académie du Festival d'Aix and awarded the Special Prize at the Verbier Festival 2018.
