‘PICTURE A DAY LIKE THIS’ GARNERS AN AWARD AT THE 2025 VICTOIRES DE LA MUSIQUE CLASSIQUE

The Festival d’Aix-en-Provence is delighted to announce that George Benjamin’s Picture a Day Like This (Nimbus Records), a critically acclaimed world premiere at the 2023 Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, received the prize for Best Recording at the 32nd Victoires de la musique classique awards.

The ceremony, broadcast live on France 3 and France Musique on Wednesday, 5 March 2025 from the Opéra de Rouen Normandie, also bestowed awards upon several frequent guest artists of the Festival.

Mezzo-soprano Lucile Richardot, the outstanding Geneviève in the 2024 production of Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande, who also performed in Combattimento: The Black Swan Theory by Monteverdi, Rossi and Cavalli, was named Opera Singer of the Year.
The prize for Breakthrough Opera Singer went to the magnificent soprano Julie Roset, a former Académie artist who has had roles in various productions at the Festival, including Rameau’s Samson in 2024 and Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea and L’Orfeo in 2022.
Lastly, Simon Proust, conductor’s assistant for Gluck’s Iphigénie en Aulide – Iphigénie en Tauride in 2024, took home the Breakthrough Conductor award.
