Adami, a long-standing partner of the Festival d’Aix, supports the women-conductors–in–residence programme, which the Académie du Festival has offered since 2021 to showcase female orchestra conductors on the operatic stage.

This partnership aligns with Adami’s mission to promote performing artists and reflects our shared commitment to gender equality, in an effort to correct the imbalance in representation within the music industry, where women make up only 12% of orchestra conductors worldwide.

The mentorship programme is aimed at mid-career women conductors who wish to expand and refine their experience in opera. Participants benefit from tailored support from renowned artists in order to consolidate their conducting technique, gain significant media exposure through the Festival, and build and strengthen their professional networks. The initiative seeks to bolster their visibility and their influence in a sector historically dominated by men.

The collaboration between the Académie and Adami gives rise to various opportunities: following each residency, for example, Adami invites one of the participants to join the jury for the Talents Adami Classique the following year. This year, Sora Elisabeth Lee, who gave a remarkable performance conducting the Ensemble intercontemporain on 5 July 2024 in Aix, will help select the eight young soloists for the 2025 Talents Adami cohort.
