Sigismondo d’India: his name itself evokes all the beauty and exuberance of the Baroque era. This unjustly forgotten Italian composer – a contemporary of Claudio Monteverdi – contributed to the emergence of a new musical style at the beginning of the 17th century that bore all the hallmarks of modern music. Leonardo García Alarcón and the Cappella Mediterranea shine a light on some of his most moving madrigals, between lament and sigh.
