Since 1998, the Académie du Festival Aix-en-Provence, a centre for training and artistic creation, has been a professional hub for early- and mid-career artists. This autumn, the Académie is selecting the artists who will participate in the various residencies offered as part of the 2023 edition of the Festival d'Aix.

The last auditions for the 2023 VOCAL RESIDENCY will take place in Paris in mid-November. They will mark the end of the recruitment process for the ten singers and three pianist–singing coaches who will attend master classes in vocal development from 12 to 29 June 2023 with Darrell Babidge, professor and chair of voice at the Juilliard School of Music in New York. During the residency, Adam Nielsen will also work with the pianist–singing coaches to strengthen their skills in accompanying and advising singers.

Recruitment for the 2023 MENTORSHIP FOR WOMEN CONDUCTORS has just been completed. From 24 June to 10 July 2023, the selected participants will be trained as opera conductors and supported in their career development. They will also be assisting Thomas Hengelbrock, musical director of the Balthasar Neumann Orchestra, and will conduct the orchestra for a closing concert in the courtyard of Hôtel Maynier d’Oppède.
The Mentorship for Women Conductors is supported by Adami.

Applications for the 2023 CHAMBER MUSIC RESIDENCY are now closed. The instrumentalists recruited by the Academy will be coached from 26 June to 5 July 2023 by pianist Kirill Gerstein. The programme for this advanced residency includes master classes, body and movement coaching, musical encounters and concerts as part of Aix en Juin and the Festival d’Aix.

Recruitment for the 2023 WOMEN OPERA MAKERS WORKSHOP is about to begin. From 10 to 16 July 2023, twelve women composers, authors, directors, conductors, performers and multidisciplinary artists will be led by stage director Katie Mitchell. This workshop will help consolidate a network of influential women artists while providing concrete and structured tools for their careers.
The Women Opera Makers Workshop is an enoa workshop.
