Vincent Beaume
The Académie du Festival d’Aix is, since 1998, a centre of excellence for vocal and instrumental training, a platform for reflection, experimentation and creation of opera and innovative forms, and also a place that caters for the professional development of young artists. It offers them the opportunity to take part in residencies and perform in concerts and opera productions at the Festival d’Aix as well as on tours across France and abroad throughout the year.

Through its main training areas, which are voice, chamber music, creation, orchestra and mediation, the Académie upholds the values of exchange, development and cultural enrichment in the form of multidisciplinary and intercultural activities, creation and mediation for all of its programmes. Through its networks enoa (European Network of Opera Academies) and Medinea (Mediterranean Incubator of Emerging Artists), the Académie promotes mobility for young artists within the Euro-Mediterranean area all year round, in order to encourage artistic and cultural meetings.

Creation

The place given to contemporary creation and interaction between artists at the Festival d’Aix is a real catalyst of creativity and innovation. The workshops offered by the Académie are part of this approach and offers young artist composers, creators and performers the chance to tackle issues related to creation and the interdisciplinary nature that is specific to opera.

Orchestra & intercultural ensemble

Associated since 2014 with the Académie, the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra (MYO) offers talented young instrumentalists from the South region of France and from the Mediterranean basin an immersion in the professional life of ensemble and orchestra musicians. For 30 years now, the MYO transmitted the pleasure of performing the symphonic repertory composed for large orchestras, and has placed creation and intercultural exchanges at the heart of its programmes.
