The Académie du Festival Aix-en-Provence is a unique centre for training, experimentation and the professional integration of young artists with the objective of revealing new talent and facilitating new encounters year after year. Its singularity stems from its place at the heart of the Festival, which nurtures it from within by actively supporting the artistic processes and the essential values of equality, diversity and inclusion.

— Since its creation in 1998, the Académie has established itself as an unequaled talent hub. Each year, extraordinary artists from the world over — including singers, instrumentalists, stage directors, playwrights and stage designers — benefit from opportunities to dialogue with leading professionals in the fields of opera and musical theatre, chamber music, and creation enabling them to perfect their artistic practice.

Its cycle of residencies offer artists the opportunity to reflect, debate, discover, break down barriers, and broaden their sense of engagement with audiences, all the while developing their artistic and professional skills in order to keep up with a world that is constantly evolving.

— The Académie is also a laboratory for twenty-first-century opera. From the conception phase right through to performance, it encourages experimentation across disciplines, and accompanies creators throughout the process by providing them with the necessary tools to implement their projects. Each year, it enables the creation of new works, with formats and narratives that are strongly rooted in contemporary society. This initiative relies on the strength of the enoa network (European Network of Opera Academies), a group of 13 European opera academies which promote creation by young artists chosen throughout Europe, and serves as a superb tool for the production and distribution of their works.
