BÉLA BARTÓK — Concerto for Orchestra
GUSTAV MAHLER — Symphony No. 4 in G major
Sir Simon Rattle and the London Symphony Orchestra make their big comeback to the Festival d’Aix with an unforgettable concert that is a mix of traditional and modern works. Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra, written while the composer was in exile, has its roots in Hungarian folklore, while the last movement of Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, sung by Camilla Tilling, draws on popular songs from Des Knaben Wunderhorn.
