CINEMA CYCLE — FUOCOAMMARE

DIRECTED BY GIANFRANCO ROSI — 2016 — 16 JUNE

Cinéma Le Mazarin — Aix-en-Provence

The island of Lampedusa has become the epicentre of a humanitarian crisis which afflicts the Mediterranean area every year. The twelve-year-old boy Samuele grows up on these shores, in an Italian fishing family. Gianfranco Rosi's documentary film, which won the Golden Bear at the 2016 Berlinale, sensitively explores the two worlds that cohabit on the same small piece of land lost between Tunisia and Sicily.

Documentary film echoing Moses and Pharaoh by Goacchino Rossini.
