Opera went out to meet the people of Aix-en-Provence this year with the new residency of the ACADÉMIE DU FESTIVAL D'AIX, on june 14 AND 15.

The students weren’t mere extras. They were true acting partners for the artists.

This project is led by Anthony Heidweiller, singer and artistic associate director of the Opera Forward Festival in Amsterdam, who regularly organizes artistic projects with a participatory dimension. He discusses his experience in creation and lays out the key features of this project—which he undertook with the young artists of the Opéra de-ci de-là residency—in a master class recorded on Friday, June 14, 2019, at the Hôtel Maynier d'Oppède, as part of Aix en juin!
