From 7 to 19 July, the new concert programme of the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence will bring together the greatest international orchestras and conductors: the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, the Orchestre de Paris under the watchful eye of Ingo Metzmacher, the Mozart cycle by the Ensemble Pygmalion kept in check by Raphaël Pichon, the cine-concert Metropolis by Fritz Lang, projected with its original accompaniment performed live with the Philharmonia Orchestra in the orchestra pit. These great formations will perform alongside the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra which is in full development and will be conducted by Daniele Rustioni. To complete the programme there will be a number of magnificent recitals and chamber music concerts as well as two concerts of Mediterranean music.
