This summer, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence reinvented itself with a tailor-made programme of open-air recitals performed in the most beautiful courtyards of Aix-en-Provence. These concerts, which united great artists from the world of opera, were conceived for the screens of #THEDIGITALSTAGE and for the cameras of ARTE. Sabine Devieilhe, Magdalena Kožená, Jakub Józef Orliński, Christian Gerhaher, Marie-Laure Garnier and Paul-Antoine Bénos-Djian had carte-blanche to perform works of their choice from their repertoires. Their selection included Purcell, Strauss, Dvořák, Janáček, Sibelius, Berg, Manuel de Falla, Carlos Guastavino, Schubert and Mozart, performed in the light of day or after twilight, in the unique ambiance of Provence. ARTE takes you backstage for this event to meet the vocal artists who, after several months of confinement, reconnected with the stage and live performance for the occasion.
