Dmitry Tcherniakov was elected "Director of the Year" by Opernwelt for Carmen
The German magazine unveiled last Friday the list of winners of its awards rewarding the personalities who marked the lyrical scene this year. The members of the jury, composed of fifty independent European and American music critics, awarded Dmitri Tcherniakov Director of the Year, "mainly for his bold approach to Carmen by Georges Bizet at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence ".
This distinction confirms the success of this new production, acclaimed by the public and critics during its presentation last July, starring Stéphanie d'Oustrac (Carmen), Mickael Fabiano (Don José) and Pablo Heras-Casado, conductor or the Orchestre de Paris.
Dmitri Tcherniakov had already been invited by the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence to be the stage director of Mozart's Don Giovanni in 2010 and 2013.
