Designed as a festival of great renewal, the 73rd edition of the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, which ended on Sunday 25 July, was a colossal success, with a record seven new opera productions, including two world premieres, and fifteen concerts.
We thank you all for your participation and your enthusiasm in bringing this Festival back to life with live audiences. We are pleased that everything went smoothly despite the complexity of the current situation.
Thanks to special measures put in place to deal with the health crisis, we were able to ensure the safety of our audiences, of the 750 artists present on site, and our entire team throughout the duration of the Festival.
Certain projects had to be reimagined—such as those organised by Passerelles, the Académie du Festival and the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra—to allow participants to meet.
The 9th edition of Aix en Juin unfolded with a modified programme and reduced capacities in order to ensure social distancing. It was entirely free, and ended with the traditional Parade[s] concert.
Journalists from all over the world reported on the high artistic quality of the performances and on the projects driven by Pierre Audi and his team.
The success of this edition is yours as well, thanks to your support and your enthusiasm.
Thank you again!
